| RESPONSIBILITIES |
5-7 years’ experience preferably in a high-speed packaging environment.
Degree preferred.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
Previous responsibility for managing the quality control or maintenance function.
Previous experience managing hourly and exempt employees in a plant environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and motivate others.
Demonstrated ability to learn new things.
Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate and follow up.
Demonstrated ability to identify potential issues and resolve complex problems, often involving large groups of people.
Responsible for the smooth and cost efficient operation of the manufacturing process. In some locations, they also direct the quality control process.
Main areas of focus include ensuring product availability to eliminate out of stock issues, improving overall production productivity, crewing appropriately to meet the cyclical demands of the business, elimination of waste, and reduction of controllable cost per unit.
Direct the activities of hourly production employees, hourly lead employees and salaried supervisors across multiple shifts.
Establish and communicate objectives for line utilization, controllable cost per unit, waste reduction and quality improvement.
Problem solve on a daily basis with sales, quality control and warehouse managers to ensure product availability is maintained and out of stock issues are avoided.
Forecast to adequately meet crewing demands for peak production periods.
Develop a process to adequately train hourly employees, both existing performers and new hires.
Troubleshoot and problem solve on a daily basis to avoid or eliminate issues that impact productivity.
